The past few days have been absolutely wonderful! I met Tom Jacob, a friend from lawschool, for sushi last night at Silhouette on 7th and Congress. It was a really amazing place, if you are in Austin and are in the mood for sushi, you should definately go there!
I have been filling all my time trying to get unpacked and take care of as much as possible before I begin work on Monday. This includes getting Sally an extreme makeover (by Sally, I mean my car haha!) new tires, new tail light, some kind of alignment check, the works! PS for all of you in your twenties like me who are just now becoming a grown up, this stuff is very expensive! As I was waiting on Sally to get all fixed up and unpacking and waiting for my washer and dryer to be delivered I couldn't help but wonder why in the world I was in such a rush to grow up! When I was still in high school I couldn't wait to grow up and be on my own and now I find myself wishing that I was back at home and didn't have to worry about all the things that come along with being a "grown up." NEWSFLASH: to all of you in your teens, do not rush to grow up, being younger and under your parent's roof has its perks!
Today I got to have lunch with my wonderful friend Berkley at El Siete Mares in Waco. This is a really fabulous seafood Mexican restaurant that I wish I had known about BEFORE I graduated from law school and moved away. If you live in Waco or are ever in Waco, you should definately give this place a try, it is worth it!
Later, my darling mom came in to town and we walked on Town Lake, it was such a beautiful day to be outdoors!
So now to the main reason for my post today, other than giving you an update on some snazzy restaurants to try, I want to pay it forward. On of my wonderful friends, Liz, sent me a link to the blog, Laura Haley Photography. On this link, the author of the blog talked about how she was going to pay it forward. She offered to donate a $25 gift card from Starbucks to a random stranger who needed it. In order to decide who to pick she requested that everyone post a comment and nominate someone to receive this gift card. Her theme for paying it forward was this: "I know this will by no means save the world, but making someone else happy is totally worth it. Someone is always having a worse day than you and sometimes it is the little things that can turn it all around."
I completely agree with this and really want to continue this whole idea of paying it forward. So today friends, I am offering to donate $25 to a charity of your choice. I challenge all of you to leave me a comment nominating a charity of your choice. This can be something national like the American Red Cross or even a local food bank or shelter. Please state the name of the charity and why you have chosen this as your nomination. This Sunday evening, March 7, I will put all the names in a hat a draw one to which I will then donate in your honor. Cannot wait to see what nominations I receive!
Have a FABulous evening!
